Bulk extension e-filing with prices you can actually see

For CPAs, EAs, bookkeepers and other preparers who file extensions for clients under their own EFIN. Pro accounts open with the 2027 filing season: published per-form pricing that drops with volume, prepaid credits that never expire, and the same money-back guarantee every other filer gets. No quotes, no chat window, no subscription.

Volume pricing

With a Pro account you buy a credit pack for the form you file most; the pack size sets the per-form price. Credits are per form type, prepaid, never expire, and work across every client and EIN on your account. Retail single filings stay at the 1–9 price.

Prices per federal e-file. Any pack over 1,000 credits is quoted individually. Credits are non-refundable once a filing is transmitted; unused credits carry into the next season.

Pro accounts: the professional rate

A Pro account will be free, for preparers with an active EFIN. Every filing you originate is priced at the 10–49 tier or better, from the very first form. There is no second price table for professionals; you simply never pay retail.

Requirements: an active EFIN. A PTIN is optional. Filings you originate will go to the IRS under your EFIN, with GrantExtension as the transmitter.

What a Pro account will include

  • Volume pricing from your first filing — the 10–49 tier applies even to one form
  • Prepaid credits that never expire, usable across every client and EIN
  • CSV bulk upload with a per-row validation report before anything is transmitted
  • One dashboard for every client: IRS status per filing, exportable
  • Free re-transmission of any rejected filing
  • The same money-back guarantee as every other filer — no carve-outs for pros or credits
  • No subscription, platform fee, or minimum purchase

How bulk filing will work

  1. 1

    Create a Pro account

Free. Enter your firm details and your EFIN. A PTIN is optional.

  2. 2

Buy credits or pay as you go

Credit packs lock in the volume price and never expire. Or pay per filing at the Pro rate.

  3. 3

Upload a CSV or add clients

One row per entity from our template. We check EINs, name controls, and form codes before anything transmits.

  4. 4

    Review and transmit

Fix any flagged rows, then pay for the batch in one payment and it goes to the IRS. Each filing is its own return, with its own IRS submission ID.

  5. 5

    Track every client

Accepted or rejected, per filing, in one dashboard you can export. Rejections re-transmit free.

Who files in bulk

Preparers on pay-per-return software

When an extension for a maybe-client burns a full return credit in Drake, ProSeries, Lacerte, or ProConnect, a $4.95–$7.95 extension is the cheaper hedge. Keep the return credit for clients who come back.

Bookkeepers and new EROs

File extensions for clients while your own tooling catches up. Bring your EFIN; we handle transmission, acknowledgements, and status tracking.

Owners of several entities

Filing for businesses you own rather than for clients? You don't need an EFIN or a Pro account. To follow the IRS's limits on bulk filing (Publication 1345), a regular account files up to 5 extensions a calendar year, counted per account and per email address, with saved clients, CSV upload and one payment for the batch. For more entities than that, a tax professional with an EFIN can file them.

Nonprofit consultants

With an EFIN, file Form 8868 for every organization you serve, at the same volume tiers as business filings. Several low-cost filers still do not offer 8868 at all.

What a season of Form 7004 costs

ExpressExtension publishes the lowest tax-professional volume tiers of the extension filers we compared, so it is the honest benchmark. Totals below use each provider's published per-form price at that quantity; ours are the Pro account prices.

Season cost for Form 7004 by quantity, GrantExtension versus ExpressExtension tax-professional rates
Form 7004 filingsGrantExtensionExpressExtension (tax-pro rate)
10$79.50 ($7.95 each)$179.50 ($17.95 each)
100$595.00 ($5.95 each)$1,395.00 ($13.95 each)
250$1,237.50 ($4.95 each)$2,487.50 ($9.95 each)
500$2,475.00 ($4.95 each)$3,975.00 ($7.95 each)

ExpressExtension tax-professional tiers verified from its pricing page in October 2026 ($17.95 at 1–10, $13.95 at 51–100, $9.95 at 101–250, $7.95 at 251–500 per Form 7004). Its money-back guarantee refunds only duplicate rejections of Form 7004 or 4868, pays tax professionals and bulk filers in account credit, and does not apply to prepaid credits; ours covers every filing, and will cover credit-paid ones too. Good to know before you upload

No signature paperwork without a payment

Forms 7004 and 8868 need no signature when no payment is attached. Bulk filings transmit without a payment, so there is no consent form to chase; clients pay any balance due directly to the IRS.

An extension to file is not an extension to pay

Tell clients up front: tax owed is still due on the original deadline, and interest and the failure-to-pay penalty run on any unpaid balance from that date.

Filings you originate for clients will go to the IRS as ERO-originated submissions under your EFIN, with GrantExtension as the transmitter. That is why a Pro account needs an active EFIN.

Rejections have a short fix window

The IRS allows five calendar days to correct and re-transmit a rejected Form 7004 or 8868. Rejected filings are flagged in the dashboard with the reason in plain English, and re-transmission is free.
