Terms of Service
Last updated: June 2026
1. The service
GrantExtension helps you prepare and electronically file IRS tax-extension requests (Form 4868 for individuals, Form 7004 for businesses, and Form 8868 for tax-exempt organizations). We are a filing service, not a law or accounting firm, and we do not provide tax, legal, or accounting advice.
2. Your responsibilities
- You must provide accurate, complete, and current information.
- You are responsible for the information you submit, including identifying numbers and tax estimates, and for determining which form applies to you.
- You must be authorized to file on behalf of any business or organization you enter.
- You agree to use the service only for lawful purposes.
3. Extensions to file, not to pay
A tax extension extends the time to file your return; it does not extend the time to pay any tax owed. You are responsible for estimating and paying any balance due by the original deadline. We are not responsible for interest or penalties resulting from underpayment or from information you provide. See our penalties guide.
4. Fees and payment
Filing fees are shown before you pay and are charged per extension. Payments are processed by Stripe. Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.
5. Filing and acknowledgments
We transmit your extension to the IRS through authorized e-file channels and provide the IRS acknowledgment when available. We cannot guarantee acceptance where information is inaccurate or incomplete, or where the IRS rejects a filing for reasons outside our control. If a return is rejected, we will work with you to correct and resubmit it where possible.
6. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. TODO(verify): finalize warranty disclaimer language.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the filing at issue. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including tax penalties or interest resulting from information you provide or from your failure to pay tax owed. TODO(verify): finalize limitation-of-liability cap and carve-outs.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. TODO(verify): confirm governing law and venue.
9. Changes and contact
We may update these terms from time to time; continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms. Questions? Contact us at [email protected]. GrantExtension is operated by AdroitCode LLC, Saint Paul, MN.
